What is the cost of clearing a Car in Mombasa

Fees charged at the Port
You will be charged approximately Ksh 60000 to 8000 depending on the vehicle size. The cost includes radiation fees, IDF fees, and a free storage for 14 to 27 days within the CFS.

Clearing agent
The completion of IDF entry will be done by your clearing agent at approximately Ksh 10000 to 30000.  However, we can conduct both clearance and registration of your car at 8% of the value of your car.  This fee may be lower if you clear a substantial amount of the cost before the initiation of the process.

Fees associated with Excise, Import Duty, Value Added Tax and Levies

Fees associated with Car Registration

Registering your car will cost approximately Ksh 15000 to 23000 and can be done by your clearing agent. For cars with special number plates, transferring the number plate will cost Ksh 30000. Registration of the car may be delayed. You can collect your car from CFS after registration.

Cars bought using Asset Finance
The finance provider will require you install a tracker on your car. The installation may range from Ksh 50000 to 750000 which is automatically added during quotation.

Cost of the Vehicle
While some dealers sell cars at a discount some do not offer any discount. Instead, some dealers add a fee of £100 to £300 to the price previously marketed. While independent dealers often offer discounts, they do not perform car services since you were offered a discount. In most cases, the cost of a car is reflected by the amount you pay ultimately.

VAT Qualified Cars
Cars that are not more than three or four years old since manufacture may qualify for VAT if it was initially owned by a company or enterprise. You will incur 20% less the advertised price. Despite this, there are dealers who are not ready to reclaim VAT due to the paperwork involved. We deal with cars that are net of VAT and also reclaim VAT on your behalf.
